I have a new site with about 100 pages, and 50odd backlinks created over the last three-four weeks... how long before these show up using "link:" in Google? |
|
Also... Google mentions all my pages in it's index, but only recognises a link to the main page on 8 of them. No ommited results. |

Whenever...there's no guarantee they ever will. Google lies. This isn't me messing about, it's true. They likely aren't being counted yet and won't be for a while. Don't go getting too many too fast, it looks artificial because it is and Googs won't like that. How'd you get them? |

Maybe never. Google shows just a little subset of actual links. Also... Google mentions all my pages in it's index, but only recognises a link to the main page on 8 of them. No ommited results. Yup, see above. Use link and linkdomain with search.yahoo.com -- John Perl SEO tools: http://johnbokma.com/perl/ or have them custom made Experienced (web) developer: http://castleamber.com/ |

When you say it only recognises the link on 8 pages, what do you mean exactly please? If my site has 100 pages, and each page refers to the main page, only 8 pages out of those 100 show up as having a link (internal) to the main page. |

Thanks John, Wether they show up or not should be irrelevant then. But do these 'invisible' links still add to build credit within Google? Steven |

As John wrote - Google displays only some subset of links. It probably 'knows' about much more. Information about number of BLs (back links, also called IBL - inbound links) reported is updated once per 2 to 7 weeks; last update was about 3 weeks ago. Nobody but the Google almighty knows when the next BL update will take place. |
