Fasthosts. If you're going to have 10 websites then purchase a dedicated server from one of these, that way you'll only pay £49 per That sounds very expensive compared with 1&1 for 10 sites. I think its about £15 a month for a decent size business hosting plus £1.99 per domain for two years. |

Hi, I am quite new to web design and so on, and need some advice on hosting, particularly which provider to choose. 1) Which one do you recommend, personally use? I have been thinkin abou 1&1 as they've won so many awards.. 2) As I am going to have up to ten websites, what kind of package allows to host more than one? If it says '5.co.uk domains', does it mean 5 aliases or 5 completely separate websites? 3) On 1&1 there are 'hosting' and 'ms hosting'. What is the difference? I can't tell from comparison as they both seem to look the same. Any advice will be appreciated, as basically I'd like to avoid choosing wrong. Cheers, Paul |

These groups are not on my news server, unfortunately :/ This must be my ISP's fault. Anyway, thanks. Paul Hi Paul I've personally used about 15 different webhosts and I can say for certain that the best two in the UK that I've used are Netcetera and Fasthosts. If you're going to have 10 websites then purchase a dedicated server from one of these, that way you'll only pay £49 per month for a Linux (Fedora) server or £59 for a windows based server and you can put as many sites on your server as you want (allowing for bandwidth etc) You can also install whatever you like on it as far as stats packages and MySQL etc. That sounds very expensive compared with 1&1 for 10 sites. I think its about £15 a month for a decent size business hosting plus £1.99 per domain for two years. I haven't had any major problems with them -- Pete Thomas - www.petethomas.co.uk *********** On-line saxophone exercises, composition and jazz theory courses, Saxophone Instruction DVD *********** To reply privately please use the link on my site. |

It is 15.99 + VAT for 5 co.uk domains and 22.99 for 10. Does this mean I can operate 5 or 10 completely different websites using those plans? Yes. What's the difference between hosting they offer: HOSTING one and MS HOSTING? Which one is better? HOSTING refers to the use of Linux servers. MS HOSTING refers to Microsoft |
