Default Is this hidden text appropriate or is it cheating? Your thoughts? - 07-28-2009 , 03:05 PM

On this website www.hypnotisthankstone.com/performances.php it comes
up with these google search words/terms but alot of these words cannot
be found on the page:
Hypnosis, Hypnotist, Hypnosis Show, Hypnotist Show, Stage Hypnotist,
Stage Hypnosis, Comedy Hypnotism, Corporate Comedy
Entertainers,Vancouver Hypnotist

The cached version on google does not show these words, so I looked
into the source code and found:
<td height="80" align="center" valign="bottom" style="color:#7E7E7E;
font-size:80%; line-height:22px"><div align="center" id="agent99"
style="position:static;
visibility:hidden; color:#7E7E7E">
<p>Hypnosis, Hypnotist, Hypnosis Show, Hypnotist Show,
Stage Hypnotist, Stage
Hypnosis, Comedy Hypnotism, Corporate Comedy Entertainers,Vancouver
Hypnotist,
Toronto Hypnotist, Vancouver Hypnosis, Toronto Hypnosis, Hypnotist
Canada, Hypnosis
Canada</p>

If this is breaking the rules should I report this to google to get
this website knocked out of the search engine rankings? Is this a
cheat and if so, it would not be the first time for this website.

Your thoughts?

I would say that is definately keyword stuffing. It has no structural
meaning, as oppposed to something like this below, where a logo is being
used instead of text, but you still want those without images enabled to
still get the content.

<div id="header">
<h1>My Company Name</h1>
</div>

#header {background-image: url(logo.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat;}
#header h1 {visibility:hidden; margin:0}

Competition, huh? Can't you just *suggest* they correct their Web site? ;-)

Dear John:

The first time I caught this person keyword stuffing his site, he said
this:
"I noticed you posted
http://www.highdots.com/forums/search-engine-optimization/would-you-call-keyword-stuffing-266287.html.
You also posted http://www.1-script.com/forums/Would-you-call-this-Keyword-stuffing-article55161--1.htm
I was wondering if you could please remove it as soon as possible
thank you. I had my website made for me and was unaware of how it
operates. I am not a website designer nor do I know anything about how
to make or run a website. As one hypnotist certified by the ngh to
another this would be great. Next time please contact me first if you
have a questions or comments regarding my site. Im sure we could
resolve any issue. I would give you the same respect. I contacted my
website maker and he seems to have fixed any problems. I appreciate
your cooperation at this time. Thanks Hank."

He started to use hidden text less than a week after he "changed his
site", his webmaster claimed complete ignorance in the matter, and now
his site has evolved into what it is now. So being caught a third
time, I highly doubt "suggesting" he change the site will do much good
but waste my time. Posting here will serve a much better job of
"encouraging" him to change his site by showing people on the web what
an "ethical" guy he really is.
