How come you got stuff like this in the code?

<SPAN lang="EN-GB">&nbsp;</SPAN><SPAN lang="EN-GB">

Why would you have stuff in there to say that the language is UK
English? Did you put that in after the site started appearing in
Google.de to make Google understand that this is a UK site, or was it
always there?

I think this is usually used by screen reader software for correct
pronouncing.

Is there a difference in the pronounciation of a non-breaking space?
Seriously, that's just bloat. Such markup should be used for a word,

It isn't something you see everyday though. I wonder why it's there at
all.

Ahhh - this is not my site. You are looking at http://www.midnightwalk.co.uk/
not http://www.midnightwalk.org

And I would agree with you, it's not good code, but also, Google
doesn't seem too mind as they actually come up #1 when looking for
'midnight walk'

I think it's Cymru (AKA Wales) where they pronounce "&nbsp;" differently.
It sure looks like a typical Cymraeg (AKA Welsh) word to me...

Have you ever seen code created by Word for Windows ;-)
Years ago, I created my first sites with Web Assistant for Word. I had
no idea back then.
