Google Update?

Hello! I have a website selling wholesale giftware. We're listed when
you search "wholesale giftware" (without the quotation marks, we're on
page three). My question is this, I know Google updates a lot, but our
site seems to move up and down the list every day or every 1/2 day...
last month we were on the fourth page, but this month we've been
solidly on page three. Should I be seeing THIS much activity, without
really going anywhere???

p.s. I'm not using specifics, because I don't really think my domain
name matters. I've noticed that there is a lot of movement within this
search topic.
