Default Google update of 11 January - 01-12-2004 , 01:41 AM

The results of my link:www.domain.com searches on Google changed a few
hours ago.

Wow. I was slaughtered. And I have been *good*.

My http://www.fortliberty.org site went from 237 links to 52 links.

I have not engaged in any SEO practices of which Google does not approve,
that I am aware of.

I was blindsided -- I expected my link count to go *up*.

The other links are, as far as I can tell, still there and still > PR4.
They just don't seem to be shown anymore.

I'm waiting for my PR's to fall next...

Will

I am big dummy. I found the pages that fell from PR4 to PR3.

They were deep pages. The main pages and the pages linked from the main
pages were not affected.

d'oh!

I share your displeasure ... I lost 75% of my links, and my PR went from 4
to PR3 ... I play by all the rules too.

Good thing is , none of my rankings were affected. I'm ranked at or near the
top for most all my keywords.(lots of #1's) I've been very happy about that
lately. So if links and PR went down, so be it I guess ... Hopefully the
rankings hold !

Cheers
David D.

I lost all my backlinks at my internal pages of one of my sites and the
pr fell from pr6 to pr3 on January 1st update but the backlinks all
returned this update and my pr went back up to a pr5 for my internal
pages. The index page never got effected by any of this incidently and
stayed a pr6 and kept all its links through out. But I had added 40 new
pages in December at a new directory and maybe google was re-calculating
the flow of things during this time. Anyway I was greatly relieved when
things returned to normal again a few days ago.

What I'm nervous about is the February 1st update which will be as big
as 11/16 so fasten your seat belts kids it's coming. I think the 2/1
update will but extra weight on the amount and quality of internal pages
at a site, much like the 8/1 update did over the summer.
