Google still overloaded

Can't get anywhere with sitemaps - still says it can't see my
verification file even though I put it in yesterday evening - or
analytics, trying to add a new site and there's no "add new website"
button visible anywhere to click. Meanwhile, we wait...

Google Analytics no longer accept signups. They were simply overloaded and
overhelmed by demand according to something which I read yesterday. This
also explains the enormous lag when it comes to statistics of current
subscribers.

As for Sitemaps, have you looked at your raw logs to see if Google requested
the file? If so, did they receive it successfully? Maybe an error was
triggered, which can also provide you with an answer.
