Fact is, none of us really know what's going on with Google right now,
or indeed recently/lately, and I have a horrid feeling the Googlers
themselves are a bit lost also. with that laughable statement they put
out concerning what you should look for in a SEO firm, they revealed
themselves to be deeply flawed. This is potentially bad news for those
of us in the industry as a great deal of our worth comes from being
able to eventually score high in Google's serps with some consistency.
Right now, that would seem to be an unrealistic expectation, at least
until they settle down and find their feet again.
What if they don't, tho? What if Google has blown it and doesn't
settle down? How many times have we in this group criticised others
for putting their eggs in one basket (i.e. the web) and aren't many of
us doing exactly the same thing with Google?
I'll sleep a lot happier when Google, if it ever does, establishes
some sense of direction. As an industry, we need it to.

Hi,

Having researched this, there was an update to Google's spider called Jagger
some time ago (last year). They have then produced a new spider called Big
Daddy. Big Daddy now does everything, hence the name. Also you will find
that reciprocal links are almost worthless now. So, if you based your web
site success on reciprocal links, then Big Daddy will most probably have
removed them from their link pop database. So, in answer to your question;
Google is still dancing, but doing a great big line dance rather than a
tango.

No, reciprocal links still have value. And what is a link pop database?

So, in answer to your question;

It always dances, updates are no longer been seen in huge / massive
changes in SERP's. They are finetuning all the time.

Old news with the updates. Also you are wrong about reciprocal links. I have
a site that is very strong and has recip links. My others ones are climbing
with recip links. Where do people come up with this crap?

As you can see plenty of people still do well with reciporcal linking.

What a crock! Links from related quality sites are good no matter if it is
reciprocal or not. Linking is what the web is all about!

It really isn't called a Google dance anymore or haven't you heard?:-)

But, not as much as they used to right?
Link popularity database. e.g. the results received from link: in google.

Yep, hence the analogy to line dancing rather than tangoing. Maybe I should
have made myself clearer and stated that a line dance means its updating all
the time?

A basic SEO question. Big daddy is the name for the new structure
Google's datacenters now have including the way data is now gathered and
ordered in them.

A spider is the bot that is send out to gather the information. Such as
Googlebot.

Link popularity database. e.g. the results received from link: in google.
Not in general, it depends on where the link is comming from.

Link popularity can't be investigated by using link:www.example.com in
Google. It only gives a sub set of the links pointing to a domain.

Hm, if you mean that the line dance doesn't stop, you could be right.
