Default Google sitesearch - 01-07-2005 , 10:09 PM

Hi. Just joined this group. Hope someone here can help.

My web site has a simple google sitesearch form, allowing the user to search just within my web site. Doesn't seem to be working now. I try it and get no hits at all.

Something strange. Went to google.com and did a "astro site:www.stargaxing.net/mas". This is a local astronomy club. Again, no hits. Then I did a "astro site:www.wmich-astro.org". This is the redirected domain name. Got one hit, with "astro" in www.wmich-astro.org highlighted.

Did google outlaw sitesearch forms? Both my site and the astronomy club site have been around for a couple of years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...Dennis

The one I have on opro.org works fine. Can't tell ya. Though
www.stargaxing.net doesn't exist.

What's the URL to the search form page?

Sorry, typo. It's www.stargazing.net .

I think I see the problem. I can do "astro site:www.stargazing.net", but not "astro site:www.stargazing.net/mas". Since www.wmich-astro.org is a redirect to www.stargazing.net/mas, "astro site:www.wmich-astro.org" won't work either.

My site is the same thing. A domain name redirected to a sub-folder on the isp web site. Any ideas how to set up a google search to a sub-folder?

No clue - maybe you can't....

There might be a way. If I could add "allinurl: mas" to the search text. I've tried adding "allinurl: mas" to the search text, but turns the whole search string into an allinurl string. I've tried [allinurl: mas allintext: astro], where "astro" is my search string, but again no luck. There's got to be a way to combine different criteria search text together...Dennis

Just to let people know. Figured it out. The statement [inurl:mas site:www.stargazing.net astro] works. The problem was the allinurl. Should be just inurl....Dennis
