Default Google Shuffle - 02-11-2004 , 04:57 AM

Hi Guys

I've been keeping an eye on the new Google servers, and whilst they haven't
really stopped shuffling, one thing to note is that in the last 1/2 hour the
backward links have changed. Cannot see any PR movement but the last time I
noticed a significant shift in links, "Austin" happened 4 days later.

Could we be winding up for the next dance this weekend?

How would you say the backward links have changed? Mine have gone up.
What have you noticed?

Forgive my ignorance, but how do you check your backward links?

Thanks

OK, I found a utility to check for backlinks. I see the backlinks on google
is only 3 for my top search phrase. Is this considered acceptable? If not,
what is the best way to increase this? We are currently ranked very good at
position #3 (last week we were going back and forth between #1 and #3)

Thanks

I've got quite a few sites some have gone up some have gone down,

I've noticed that if you check your sites backward links
(link:http://www.yoururl.com in Googles search box ) from day to day they
generally stay constant through the month except for just before a re-index.

Yes, my backlinks are going up and down every hour today, not that I check
them obsessively every half hour or so!!

I'm not seeing anything quite so extreme, but as I said backward links don't
generally move about that much- but today is different. I maybe well of base
but we'll know for sure if I'm right in 3-4 days.

Actually I should qualify my earlier post, my backlinks have only been
steadily increasing, not dropping off. I had two new ones 4 hours ago and
another 3 1 hour ago.

Luckily/unluckily I have so few backlinks that I notice such small
fluctuations.

I'm looking forward to a whole new radical algorithm, (I lost out with
Austin) hopefully along similar lines to Florida, but with only one backlink
from each individual domain being counted.
