I've just done a search for a phrase and my page comes up no 3 with Google showing a title which was in the <title> tag over a month ago. Doing another search for a different phrase puts the same page in no.3 but this time showing the correct title. The cache is the same both times. Is this something new? it opens up a great way of getting the same page in multiple serps. |

Google uses this for different SERPs. Right now Google uses the description for the rag rug SERP from DMOZ for many of the sites listed, for other SERP's the description that is in the META. When you do a search for "Stacey's Simple Stuff" it will bring that as the title because that is what is in the DMOZ. Stacey |

Stacey It's definitely not a DMOZ description, the page is only a few months old and doesn't appear in any directories. Have you ever had "Stacey's Simple Stuff" in your <title> tag? It looks very much to me as though google saves caches of pages when the title changes, if so, it could prove handy ;o) |

But anyway, I knew Google does this and thought I would bring it up. There are some times that Google does save old caches. Say if it goes by your site and it is down it will bring up and old cache. Any idea how long they keep multiple caches for? I have pages that when you search for 1 target it returns 1 description and when you search another target it returns another description. |

Different datacenters can be out of sync (or rather - they always are out of sync) and they display slightly different results. Best, Borek |
