Default Google sandbox and Yahoo indexing: how long? - 03-04-2006 , 11:15 AM

Hello.

I believe that Google sandbox does exist, for the following
reason:

I made 2 new websites in January 2005. They were indexed
by Google after a few days, but they did not get good results.
In June 2005 they started to get good positions on Google.
This would be a 5 month sandbox.

However, in June 2005 I made a new website, that was
indexed by Google after a few days.
In November (5 months) it started to dance between #90
and #50 for an important keyword. I have several good links
for that keyword (it's #3 on MSN).
In December it reached #33, then it went back around #55.
A few days ago it reached #29, then it went back to #53.

However, my links are really good and a expected to go
in the top 10 positions. Why didn't this happen?
Someone says that the Google sandox lasts 9-12 months.
This could be a good explanation: what do you think?
9 months will expire around March 15.

By the way, this website has not been indexed by Yahoo
yet! It's almost 9 months now: how is this possible?!

Thanks,

Fabrizio

Have all the pages remained unchanged throughout this 'experiment'? Were any
incoming links added in the interim? What is the extent of the site and what
do you gauge its ranks by? Are you following just a single results page?
Have you considered the fact that your competition is never static either?

I am skeptic merely because these trials are over-simplified. You are
probably driven by the hypothesis, motovated by hope and anticipation.

If your Web page has not yet been indexed by Yahoo, perhaps it lacks inbound
links. Yahoo will crawl, collect and index the pages almost as quickly as
the counterparts.

Good luck,

Roy

Hello,

thanks for replying.

The links to my website are PR0 to PR3 (maybe a few ones PR4),
most of them point to the homepage.

Most of these links were made in June-August 2005
and a few ones around November-December 2005.

The total number of pages in the website is around 20.
The PR of the homepage is PR4 (not so bad).

The anchor text of 95% of the links is a single important
keyword. The website is #3 on MSN (for that keyword),
and only #53 on Google (I expect it to go in the top ten!!!).
It has not been indexed by Yahoo (that is strange:
almost 9 months have passed).

Here are the number of the backlinks:

MSN
link:mywebsite.xyz 858 results!

Google
link:mywebsite.xyz 40 results

Yahoo
linkdomain:mywebsite.xyz 292 results!
But no pages from my domain mywebsite.xyz are actually indexed!
site:mywebsite.xyz = 0 results

I can't figure out why the position on Google is so
bad (#53), unless there is a 9+ months sandbox.
And I can't figure out why the website is not on Yahoo,
even though Yahoo itself knows that there are 292 backlinks!

Thanks,

Fabrizio

Neither can I and neither will we unless we get to see the url.

I did not want to type the URL because it could be spam
and due to other reasons... However here it is:

http://transcendental.meditation.onwww.net

It's a third-level domain, but I do not think this
changes anything.
The website is not very beautiful and the content
is not very much (20 pages or so), but, in my
experience, backlinks and anchor text are the
important things.

The magic keyword is
"transcendental meditation"
(actually, 2 words)

At this time it's #34 on Google,
but it is dancing between #30 and #60
every few days.

I just noticed that it dropped from
#3 to #4 on msn! It has been #1 (!!!)
for a few weeks, around October 2005.

What is incredible is that no results
are given by Yahoo for this site.

Other information: see my previous post.

Thanks,

Fabrizio

What does this about please?

<!--
The URL of this web site is www.meditation.onwww.net
but it will work with anything in place of www:
for example, coca.cola.meditation.onwww.net
-->

I'm thinking you maybe have canonical problems. I can feel the breeze
from the propellers above certain heads as they start to
spin...Stacey, maybe you an' me should go get a beer while the boys
thrash this one out...

...
I can't even remember what it was exactly:
a kind of joke while the webpage was under construction,
that later I have put under the html brackets <!-- -->
so that it was not displayed anymore.

I have just deleted it.

By the way, it just went down to #53 on Google!
It was #34 yesterday! It's so strange.
