I havn't seen a big change yet, my SERPS are still looking like pre-Florida (post-Austin), where the sites which can afford to buy thousands of backlinks are back on top. I've noticed that people who were hit hard with Florida seem to be left alone by Austin, and vice versa. |

I got hit by Florida but recovered right away from it and Austin never effected me. |

Give it time it will. Probably by the 16th of the month to celebrate the florida anniversary. |

You said the first few days of Feb and you were very sure of yourself. What does your source (wmw) say about that I am well glad you asked that my son because I was about to post about that anyways. I think the reason google pulled all the smaller data centers offline is because they got so much slack for the 11/16 real time beta testing, and that's what 11/16 was all about and still is by the way. So they decided to do the beta testing offline so they don't have to deal with 3/4 of the free world hating them. But when they do get something figured out and are ready to bring those data centers back online again then we're all going to get really fucked over but good when that happens. Rather than being able to see what's happening and adjusting to the changes gradually it'll all hit us in the face in one mega blow like a 10 earthquake on the richter scale. When will this happen? Who the fuck really knows but I just wish it takes its time because I'm doing the best I ever did the past couple of months and I dread it. But I have learnt a ton of new stuff from 11/16 and I think it'll help me figuring out whatever it takes to come back to life from it when it happens. You have to be like a cat to survive google and have 9 lives. I've already used up a few of them but still have enough left to land on my feet. So all I can say is "meow". ps-I'll still stand by the 2/16 prediction. Why not. If that's wrong too I think I'll stop predicting things for awhile. (it's a hard habit to break). |

I got hit hard by florida and hit hard again by austin Me too! Got a quite number of small sites (40 pages max) that have held page 1 serps for a long time now. One in particular I upped in Novemember was a property site that I'd optimised for 24 phrases over 10 or so pages. All pages had page 1 positions for all key phrases then ZAP! Only 4 pages still have those page 1 positions, the others have gone out of the first 1,000 in Google. In the other engines they still hold their page 1's. Another site held page 1 for 184 related key phrases (again a small site) then after December lost about 60 positions in Google, judt dropped right out of the index??? It's pretty clear because of the drop in informed activity here that regular contributors are busy with their own problems but I've spent weeks researching and can't find a tangible explanation for what is happening at Google. Filtering on some searches is going on for sure and I'm not convinced we haven't seen the worst yet and for what it's worth Google is definitely delivering plenty of no-relevant results for everyday search input.
