I should perhaps have added that dropdown boxes that submit when you choose
an option are also out.

That may seem obvious, but I've just spent almost 3 months trying to
convince one site owner that google will not use their dropdown box to
specify which country it comes from. No matter how nicely we ask.

I think they've finally got it! I feel like Rex Harrison...

nor will it auto generate queries for text search boxes.

bah - that's trivial.

male bots dive into your site, find what they want (or not) and leave

female bots potter from page to page in a (seemingly) random pattern and
keep coming back to see if you've changed your mind - sorry page ;o)
