Default Google page ranks.. - 02-12-2006 , 12:52 PM

Many people here quote page ranks and all kinds of stuff.

Is there some kind of tool around to tell you what your page rank should be?

Paul

That's an easy one: it should be 10 :-)

On par with Google? I think not, unless they extend their scale. *smile*

Hope it helps,

Do you really think this "tool" has a minimum of credibility? I checked
a few pages, it always tells you "your current rank is X (correct), and
you'll be 2.odd % better next time".

I think it's a prank.

"For amusement purposes only" would be a better description.

"Results: Your current Google PageRank is 0. Based on our calculations, we
predict your future PageRank after the next Google update will be 0."

Shoot! Doesn't sound very promising. I hope that's not accurate for one of
my five sites that's sandboxed right now.

Not so much rough predictions, as wild guesses.

The developer was called out a couple of years ago for taking the p*** out
of 'newbies', and - for a while - he had a note saying it was 'just for
fun'.
http://www.ihelpyou.com/forums/showt...threadid=14182

When the fuss died down, he removed that note.
It's crap.

Thanks for pointing that out Andrew, I've been going through a couple of my
web sites with a fine tooth comb since I tested the tools in question
earlier today. I'll be able to sleep tonight.

I've always preferred to stay away from 'toolbars' becasue they often turn
out to be malware of some kind. Instead I found a nice little (285kb
zipfile) stand alone utility:
