Default Google Not Indexing Certain Pages? - 09-01-2004 , 07:10 PM

I posted here a while ago about my Site Vanishing from Google after about 10
Months. I was told Google could be 'swapping datacenters for serps' and my
site could show back up in about a Month. (?)

Well, actually, my site does come up if I search for the Name (technotronic
dimensions) But only the main page and I think 1 other Page about Hard
Drives comes up.

The Page about the Hard Drives, shows a cached date of within the last 3
Days...Im not sure if it was there before that when I nocied most of the
Keywords for my site were no longer coming up....probably not. Is this a
Sign that for sure they are reindexing my site back into the system? I also
notice that other pages on the site that seem to have had less views and
visits from Google searches, (IE: supplies.htm) come up ok when I search for
their specific Key Word contents, but the more popular pages like :
products.html, products2.html, products3.html, semiconductors.html or any
other pages linked to those specific ones do not come up at all any more
when I search for a KW on them. Is that perhaps because those pages were the
most popular ones that Visitors went to after they searched Google? Any
Input appreciated.

Also, is it common that people who do not want you ranked for a Specific KW
could 'spam;' those URL's by Submiting them to Google over and over, and
Google would drop it?

Hi Derek:

I did see that, but you refered to my Web Hosts Home page.
My Site is hosted by them, and the URL is:
http://Technotronic-Dimensions.com

I dont believe there are any Redirects there? Thanks for the

I think he may be drawing a distinction between http://yourdomain.com
and http://www.yourdomain.com .

I think, anyway. Googs sees them as different, apparently, so you
might be looking things up wrong.

No. Otherwise there'd be no sites at all in Google.

I think all you're suffering from is lack of inbound links. Even if you
were in Google for years, if you have no one linking to you then you
probably won't get spidered. PageRank operates on interdependence.

Actually they have a PR5 home page
http://www.technotronic-dimensions.com but it shows no backlinks.
I've had a few sites have this happen (out of hundreds I track) and
first thought is penalty, but one month later the backlinks reappear,
so there is a Google bug where the backlinks don't show (had this
happen on a PR7 site, imagine the panic!!!).

I've had a quick look at the site and the problem is obvious, the
navigation system sucks! There are orphan pages all over the place or
at best they only link to one other page and then it tends to be
external.

This has resulted in just three pages indexed with a cache the rest
are lacking a cache.

OP you need to add a bunch of static text links to every page. One of
these links should be to the main domain, the rest your main pages
(say 6 to a dozen other pages one could be the sitemap).

I would also advise adding specific links within the content of each
page, so if you have a page about "key1 key2" link to other pages on a
similar theme (those about "key1 key2 key3" or "key1 key4").

The home link you should add should not have anchor text HOME. It
should be the main phrase for the site or at least "Mainphrase Home".

One Page (quantum.html) shows the correct Cache date as per last Google
Visit, which was the 30th I think. About a Week ago, when
the problem started, this page was not there at all, but had been there
regularly till most the pages disappeared. It just recently went back into
the Index
on or about the 30th, when Google last Visited my site.

Before about a Week ago, everything was Indexed Fine. I had most Every
important Page Ranking where it ought to....everything was perfect for
nearly
10 months. The pages that seem to be missing , do have alot of Photos on
them. Could it be that Google is indexing the Photos also into the Google
images
search ...and it could mean more time?

I'll make it a point to try and do this. I thought the Engines would View
excessive Backlinks to the Homepage on pages on your site as 'spamming' if
you had it too many times on the Site. I can see a link to 'index.html' to
the file on the server may be ok, but to place the
'http://www.mysite.index.html' over and over , I thought could be viewed as
a way to try and manipulate the Search engine's PR formula, and get you
omitted. I really didnt even know that to be a legit backlink, it could
exsist on a page on your own domain. I thought it HAD to be on another
domain other than the one you are operating. Thanks for the Insight.

Derek:

Its just unusual that I have been in there for nearly 10 Months,
and I do Update my Site Weekly with new Content, which Google has been
picking up all along, and Indexing No problem. I also Add some New pages,
because I reach near the 100K Page Limit sometimes on certain ones, and I
link them to the rest of the NAV Menu that the other related pages are
on...and google Found them no sweat. This particular Group of pages link to
one another, but not back to the Home Page or the Sitemap. SEO Dave seems to
believe that may be why they are being excluded, but the One Page Google is
Showing (Quantum.html) also does not have any backlinks to my home page. In
Fact that one only has some links for File Downloads, and (1) External Link
to a Hard Drive Mfr.

By the Way, I Visited your Site, and downloaded the Toolbar for the
Multiple Search Engines. I like it. I Replaced Hotbot with 'metacrawler' and
Got it to Work, but one other Search Engine I think is gonna be really neat
is : KAzazz! www.kazazz.com

Lins from within the site help, not as much as if you can pull a few
inbound links from well raked sites, but nonetheless they help. You won't
have a problem with one or two links to the index on every page, and it
will help both in SE and usability terms.
