Default Google may be winding up for something! - 03-01-2004 , 02:16 PM

don't know if anyone else is seeing this but 6 of the 10 servers have gone
into spasm in the last hour. No changes to PR or backward links (that I can
see).

What do you mean by "spasm"?

Google has replaced my fixation with watching the stock market go up and
down.

Matt:

Unfortunately, the current revision of Dancer is almost useless.

1. It doesn't show you the names of each datacenter.
2. It doesn't show you who is ranked in all of the _other_ positions.
3. It doesn't show you which one of your pages is ranked in that position,
i.e. it doesn't let you search for multiple pages.
4. What the heck do the black and red squares mean?

The functionality of Dancer is significantly less than the functionality
provided by these two web tools:

http://googledance.seochat.com/
http://www.webworkshop.net/google-dance-tool.html

However, these two web tools are both still pointing at the old (dead)
data centers!

So, in that way, Dancer is better. ;-)

Overall, Dancer tells me so little that I can't see a value in
downloading, installing, and running the tool.

Sorry.

On all of the searches I've tried, all of the little red and black squares
were the same across the board, except one search where the 8th little red
square from the left, on the top row, was pink.

What does that mean? Is pink good or bad?

Is that a half-moon I see above the word "Ranking" on the right? What
does that mean?

Its not supposed to be anything else other than a means to see, at a glance,
that the servers are different or the same.

Going along the top it compares each server with the first one, if different
it changes that dot from red to something else, it then compares the next if
the same as the first then it'll be the same colour as the first if the same
as the second then it'll be the same as the second, if different again it'll
show a completely different colour. Most of the time the servers all line up
red, but every now and then, like this evening they change colours on mass.
Right now they have all settled down again with the exception of no. 4. The
one thing it does show is history of the last 10x cycles. Leave the room and
you will see what happened in your absence.

I have used the http://googledance.seochat.com/ for years- but they do not
seam to be interested in updating to the new servers. But to be honest
comparing the 10 servers by hand- what's the point- all we really need to
know is that something is happening, that the servers are shifting or not.

The half moon is a timer nothing more, a full cycle is 10 minutes. The
ranking is your SERPS on the URL, for the search term.

The pro version (introducing later in March) will, when you click on the
servers (dot), open a browser and display the Google server. It will also
monitor the number of backward links to the URL specified. The pro will also
give the last 1000 cycles, ranking fluctuations and backward link changes,
so giving a powerful insight into Googles monthly behavioural patterns
during Freshbot and full Googlebot updates.

Now do you see the point?

Matt

I checked several of the data centers and didn't see anything, but
I was only checking for my own keywords/serps.

I have, however, noticed a very significant spike in my daily traffic.
Well out of the norms, in fact. This does seem to happen when
there's something going on with the googlerithmn.

It'd be nice to see a pr backlinks update.

Thanxs Jake

I'm glad you understand the concept, the point of the "dancer" is to help an
SEO "map" what happens and when. Combined with user stats , the soon to be
introduced PRO Version (with backlink monitor plus history of 1000x10mins)
will highlight Googles behavioural patterns, making updates more predicable.

Yes, I've seen that all day long. It's quite huge on my end for all my sites.

Google is really hustling.

I just found this awesome tool to monitor the Google datacenters.

Google Data Center Watch Tool.
