Default Google index? - 05-19-2005 , 02:32 PM

Hi there,

I think that my site has been indexed by Google but I am not sure. Is there
a way of seeing what Google has indexed on my site?

I seem to remember something about

index: www.mysite.com

this doesn't seem to do anything although

site: www.mysite.com

brings back the main page for my site only. Does this mean that the site
has not been fully indexed yet? The description does appear correctly
though.

Hi Jamie,

site:www(or without depends on what you use)example.com if it just has one
page that is all that is indexed so far. If it is new you might need more PR
to keep the other pages in.

access_log. Did you see Googlebot (the real one) visit your page(s)?

Yup. It might help to get a link to your site with a nice PR (6 or higher).

Oh yeah, PR 6 or higher does help. Jamie getting some links with average PR
helps also. You can do better with 20 PR 4's by using good anchor text than
1 link from a PR6 site or higher.

For Googlebot visits, just one PR6 link is enough, you get indexed in
roughly 24 hours. For SEO purposes, sure, the more good links the better.

Would you care to supply a reference to the above statistic or did you
just make it up?

How many PR6 pages did you base this on? Would you consider that
number statistically significant?

You really shouldn't make sweeping generalisations like this John!

Nah, I leave the really stupid ones to you and Stacey and SEO Dave [2] :-D.

[1] Everybody else: just get that PR6 link.
[2] Oh wait!

John as a reminder this is an SEO group, so advice should be given for SEO
purposes.:-) The addition of a little more advice helps the OP.

If in doubt, ask. Are you the OP?

Why do you keep thinking for *other* people Stacey? Because you can't think
for yourself?

LOL!!! I am not. People can help others without them being asked. It is not
*thinking* for others, it is called being helpful. I can offer more info to
help or just enough to help. When are you going to learn that anyone can
offer extra help! Also, it doesn't make you look any better to start on the
insults.
