I've been using http://www.google.com/advanced_group_search?hl=en for years, and it's worked fine most of the time, but tonight suddenly it's totally broken. First, when I have sort-by-date selected in the search form, it sorts by relevance instead. Second, even after I click on the by-date button in the results page, so finally they are indeed sorted as I had originally asked, the format is all screwed up, when I ask for all 100 most recent articles from a given newsgroup, instead of one-line items, it gives me huge messy things that are hard to decipher. Third, to get view by tree is a real pain compared to how it was just earlier tonight. Did Google install a totally new service replacing the old service, without bothering to see if anybody wanted the old service removed, and without bothering to check if the new service even worked?? |

new service even worked?? Yes, Google has released a beta version of its new Group application several months ago (and it didn't work at all by then, I'm afraid). Here it is, but as far as I know there's no merger into the old system yet so that doesn't really explain the errors you received: http://groups-beta.google.com/ -- Google Blogoscoped http://blog.outer-court.com |
