I haven't followed the entire thread, but if you go to the wrong page
randomly, you probably have to look somewhere else.

the google links go to a series of other pages 50% of the time. other
searches and links are fine.
Which browser? I guess IE, and probably version 6.

I strongly suggest to follow my earlier advice (don't work with Admin
rights, that's how you got hijacked the first place).

For cleaning up:

AdAware or Spybot S&D are often used. However, if this is a nasty one you
first have to use "hijackthis" to find out what has altered your system:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php

Run the program on your computer, and post the result on a forum listed
here: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/forums.php

People on those forums can really help you.

When your computer is clean, please do yourself a huge favor: create a
user "Mike" with limited rights via control panel, and stop working with
Admin rights. You don't need those most of the time.

If you're using IE6, you should either update to IE7, or use
Firefox/Opera. Otherwise, IE6 + working as admin wil result in troubles
again, and again. And there are way worse things that can happen to your
computer compared what you now have.

Yay! You fixed it! Ive been trying various of the suggestions as time
permits, I removed"search assist" and Dells "URL assistant" to no
benefit, I then thought, these results arent giving a malicious
outcome, so its might be the TCP/IP, I'd been holding back on it in
case the change screwed everything up. But *touch wood* its cured it.
So thanks everyone, whatever you suggested!
I'd give you a big kiss, but you dont want that :-)

Win32/Alureon.gen IH

You know how to delete your browsing history in your browser? Do all
that stuff.
