Ive tried Opera a few times now and it seems unaffected. |

Did you look at your hosts file? It's probably in Windows->System32- Drivers->Etc and it can be opened with a plain text editor. If you open it with Notepad and make changes, Notepad will automatically append .txt to it, and you will have to rename it hosts without the suffix. |

OK.I have a file called hosts, you want me to rename it to a .txt file, I assume to disable it? (It has two entries in it). |

(It has two entries in it). sorry, misunderstood, what do you want me to change in the hosts file? # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost |

Good, your hosts file is okay. |
|
I would still get a hosts manager, as I mentioned above, not only to help prevent hijacking, but it's also nice not to have to look at adverts. |
|
You said you ran a malware check. Did you run it in safe mode? What's in your startup? Also check your tast manager. Internet Explorer should be IEXPLORE. If it's IEXPLORER then there is nasty malware. |
