Google is getting smarter?

Before this update, I built a test site with real (looking) content.

Google now shows 104 backlinks for one page on that site.

This page has had 42 visitors total, ever. This causes me to guess that
no one has complained enough to have it penalized.

All 104 backlinks are from affiliated sites, and... the surprise is...

The page has a PR of 0.

A 0 PR with 104 backlinks?

I'm thinking Google might be just a wee bit harder on affiliated site
right now.

This page doesn't link *to* any of those sites -- it only receives links
*from* those sites.

And, for those who believe in the IP theories (I don't... or didn't...),
all of these sites are at the same IP.

Any way I look at it, it's spooky.

It would be interesting to see what happens when you add 1 more link
that is not an affiliate.

I cant imagine that Google would penalize sites with affiliate links
because so many sites have at least one of them.

I could see the scenario where they would ban or penalize a site that
has ONLY affiliate links but that would be rare.

Most sites have at least one other link going somewhere.

I've got purely affiliate sites (Amazon) that are numero uno in their
category in Google. They're not worried.
