Figure This Out

This website: http://therealphonesexdirectory.com/ has been listed as
the number one site on page one of "phone sex" for the past two years.
It has only 9 back links all are page rank 4 and the site itself only
has a page rank of 4 while there are other sites there on page one and
even page two that have higher page rank and a lot more back links which
have higher page rank than 4. So how do figure that this site is number
one for over two years? Total mystery to me and if anybody can figure
this out you know more than me.

Which 500 back links are you talking about? If you mean the links on the
site itself from sites they excahneg with then you're wrong because
those links are in a wierd code and not the real link so google won't
count any of them as back links. Here's one example of how they list
their traded links:
http://therealphonesexdirectory.com/...sp?GirlID=2751

That doesn't count as a back link because it's in a code that re-directs
in a frameset to the other site.
Besides you're wrong about google not showing all the back links as they
do show them all. The only ones omitted are ones that are the same. They
have 9 back links at google but google doesn't even show omitted links
for them. Their 9 back links are only pr4's and their site is a pr4, yet
they are in first place on page one of phone sex for the past almost 3
years now. Most of the other sites on pages one and two have alot more
back links and some of them even have higher pr. So how are they doing
it for the past 3 years staying there as the number one site? What's
more the number two site at phone sex is phonesexseeker and that is
another site they own and it is an identical mirror image of the
realphonesexdirectory. It also only has a pr4 with about 7 pr4 back
links. So what's their secret? They seem to know something nobody here
in this group even knows. I would love to be able to figure this out
with anyone here who's interested in trying to.

No, you're wrong. Google doesn't show all backlinks it knows.

Google have only ever publically shown a "sample" of backlinks and
never shows them all. However all links are counted toward PR.

PR is only one of >100 things Google take into account for rankings.

I've not done detailed research on this (5 mins), but I'd say it's
mostly to do with the anchor text of all the links to the home page.

If you check alltheweb you'll find they have over 1300 links to the
home page-

http://www.alltheweb.com/search?avkw..._sb_lang=a ny

Since Google only shows 9 backlinks this tells us most of the links
are of very low PR (PR1s, 2s and 3s) since google generally doesn't
show low PR backlinks.

That said I can't tell you why it's been like this for over 2 years
though. Google has changed it's algo in that time so you'd expect some
fluctuation. How sure are you it's been number 1 for 2 years?

I have asked why the link: xxxx gives a much larger picture than the one
listed with cached page,

Using these gives 9. Using link: site url gives 1880 !!!

It's been number one for almost two years at Google at phone sex
search and their mirror site phonesexseeker is now number 2.
Phonesexeeker also only has 7 poor links and is just like
realphonedirectory and used to be the number one site before they
created realphonesexdirectory. So they have actually held the number one
spot for 3 years now. It might be like you said using the alt anchor
link text which they have a lot of on their site. Maybe google is giving
higher emphasis now on it over back links and page rank? I'll have to
try it with one of my sites and see what happens and that should tell me
if that's it or not. If it truns out that it doesn't work then I'm
completely clueless at this point what makes them number one for 3 year
solid. I just wish I knew because it might be an easier method than the
rest of us are using. Plus they never flucuate from number one and two
and I've never seen them drop even once the last 3 years! It's uncany.
