For years, Microsoft has been struggling to chip away at Google’s dominance in the search engine market. And for years, they have been largely unsuccessful, mainly because their own search engine, Microsoft Live Search, produced unwanted and often irrelevant results. But a few weeks ago, Microsoft released Bing, an updated version of Live Search, in their newest attempt to knock Google off its pedestal. Source: http://bit.ly/Vv0dx |

To test a search engine the first thing I do is test my first and last name and see which sites it favors. Bing does a reasonable job. I think like Google, Bing is link based. I think Google is still better but I like the graphics on Bing are fun, and do not under estimate the role of a nice look. Google will remain king and Bing will help Microsoft but I still think Google is light years ahead of everyone in terms of search engine, except maybe the Russians with http://yandex.ru Yandex.ru with my testing is a good as Google. But it is a Russian/ Ukrainian search engine (I kinda speak these languages). If Yandex gets more popular in the English web via effective marketing it might make a dent in Google. |
