Default does any search engine respect punctuation chars in queries? - 05-02-2004 , 06:48 AM

Hello ng,

when I search for the term ".nfs", any search engine i have tried
prsents me the same results as for "nfs".

Is there a search engine which _respects_ punctuation characters?

Thanks
delgado

I don't think so. but:
if you are looking for a filetype, say pdf, use:
filetypedf your_query_term
in google

By posting the sort of query you're seeking to make, we can suggest
alternate search terms.

Thanks for the hint. My original intent was to search for the meaning of
".nfsxxxx" files (xxxx representing random hex numbers), that were
showing up on an NFS-Server (case resolved in the meantime).

using "nfsxxxx" as search term gives the results that I was looking for.
Anyway, punctuation chars often change the sense of a query and if there
is a way to have them respected, I'd be glad to hear about it.
