Default Do I need to submit my site to directories? - 11-07-2006 , 01:46 AM

I have no idea whether I have to submit my site to hundreds of
directories or not.Does this do good to my site?Someone told me that
they have a software and offer service to help me submit my sites to
more than 390 directories. And I have downloaded their software for free
from their site at
http://www.submithelper.com.Do I need to submit my sites to those
directories in order to get higher PR?Any suggestion will be
appreciated.

You may, but most of these links won't be worth anything.

A lot of them, despite having high PR themselves, won't pass any PR on
to you because of using the nofollow tag or other obfuscation. You
have to take each individual directory on its own merits. My advice
would be to try DMOZ, which is free but impossible to get into, and
pay for Yahoo and Microsoft Bcentral. Where's the boy Heenan where we
need him?

No! As in the company will gladly take your money, but 99% of
directories will block any and all attempts at automatic uploads. In
short, you absolutely wont be listed in 39 directories, let alone 390.

probably the worst thing you could do.

Many of these directories demand reciprocal links, which will mean you can
be placed in abd neighborhood. Almost all demand an email address, which
can mean spam for life, and the rest are 'made for adsense'

None will give you a link worth a dime, or refer any visitors (they don't
have any visitors!)

What you do need is to submit to a small number of Quality Directories - and
probably by hand, as any directory worth submitting to will have it's own
guidelines and advice.

Totally agree. And the 'made for adsense' sites are increasing more
and more. Esp in the market I am in.

Correct. And no PR given back either.
