I just checked it. DMOZ is currently online.

Just thought that you might want to know. Therefore, all your above
hot air is exactly that: Total B/S.

If DMOZ wants to improve their operation they should get back to being
a directory. That means dropping all links to web pages. DMOZ should
be strictly for indexes only. Better yet, it should be for home pages
ONLY.

The best thing about DMOZ is that it forces webmasters to classify
their site only one way. Are you a business just trying to scam the
public or are you an informational site (as in what the web was always
about).

Seems like a pretty simple choice to me. And, I do NOT mind saying so.

Finally, i think the worst aspect of the DMOZ interface as it now stands
is the mindless attempt to force bi-valent logic on sites: They are
either "informational" or "shopping" -- and cannot be both -- NOT. They
must fall into one cat or another, never two or three or four cats --
NOT.

Anti-deep-linking policies and bi-valent logic are what have led to the
ODP being replaced in value by algo sites like google.

Thank you Catherine. I have been saying this too, for quite a while.
Pigeon hole thinkers at ODP almost always reply "but ODP is
a directory!" ........as if that was supposed to somehow prove that
each website on the net should only have one identity.
Every web site has only one identity.

You are suffering from mushy thinking. You will NEVER succeed in SEO
your site with mush for a brain.

Think again, DMOZ currently indexes individual web pages.

That means you can, in fact, have mush for a brain. That makes you an
idiot. Just thought that you might want to know.

You didn't follow the thread carefully.
The display pages are still online, but 'editors' cannot log
in, so no new additions have been made, not a very long time.

The (ridiculous) requirement to choose one and only one identity
hides important information. Understanding that limitation requires
a little abstract thinking. But it becomes obvious, with a little
logic and reflection.

Try using your brain for once. DMOZ positively is online. I am NOT
going to do somebody else's thinking for them.

Obviously, you have mush for a brain.

You have my condolences for NOT having a clue about what your web site
is all about. If you don't, who else does?

I found that going through successfully the DMOZ process added much
needed brain cells. You have my pity.

Obviously, if being in DMOZ was not all that important this thread
would NOT even be here. There is a reason for this.

Take a deep breath. Try to think, I know it's hard.
But give it a try.

Perhaps, if you were to concentrate?

That is NOT the definition of online.

You seem to be obessed with DMOZ. If it sucks so bad why do you care?

I know. DMOZ is online. Is still valuable. And, is still important
to be in.

Online in that it's still there, or that it's now accepting
submissions to the directory?

http://www.dmoz.org/unavailable.html

Nope, in that regard it's still offline, and I think you'll find
that's what was referred to.

Not to John. He's been here a while, latest in a long line of
attention-seekers we can't get rid of. Not that there's much left of
us anymore either.

Yeah, it's slowly getting quiet here. One reason why I haven't
unsubscribed from this group, I hate to turn off the light.
