No way. Best approach is to forget DMOZ. I mean - apply for the change,
then forget.

Best,

Volunteer as an editor of a category where your listing is then change
it personally ;-)

Another solution is to use a link "update listing" at the top of the
category page and pray and pray ... as long as editor would contact you.

I tried most of the above to have my listing changed with no luck !
I wanted www.lifeinitaly.com changed to be a country-guide ( instead on
Umbria real Estate which is not so appropiate ) -
I submitted the request 3 times - no luck !
I tried to be an editor for the italy directory since I know Italian sites
pretty well : No luck because of possible bias .....
.. I did not try to buy an editor yet .....

Ciao
Paolo

I have got a similar experience with this directory. Submitted my site half
a year ago and no response so far.
Tried to become editor recently for a section with 3 YES - THREE websites in
there, but was refused. I also have experience in this field and wanted to
expand this category, including my website as well, which I clearly stated.
I have been stupid enough to disclose this info as thought they would
appreciate that and so on.

They will not tell you the reason for the refusal. What for?

Let this category stay as it is with three listings, while there is plenty
more to add, I mean quality sites.

I just find them a bunch of arrogant ignorants by the way they treat people,
nothing more.

I will try to become an editor in my girlfriend's name, or some other
person, maybe even imaginary. Just play by their own rules. If they treat
you like shit, do the same... It is the way it should be done.

Cheers,

Paul

DMOZ is a waste of time, don't bother spending any time on it. It has
fallen so far in importance that is simply not worth the effort anymore.

Yes - same experience here - I clearly stated that I wanted my web site (
lifeinItaly.com ) filed under Italy instead of Umbria ( which is one of the
Italian region )
so I got turned down...
The most positive side of DMOZ is that it is free - Yahoo directory
provides almost as bad a service and it is $300/Year -
I will not renew next year -
Paolo
PS I am surely glad Google is around....

I'll agree with the "not worth the effort", because no matter how
convincing the arguments you present they arrogantly refuse to act. I
have convincing instances that are not business-related.

Sadly, Google still give this sad remnant some degree of credence.
Odd, because Google itself has failed to chase the explosion of the web
using mechanised approaches - surely it's even more obvious that
human-based systems would have even more difficulty tracking web
growth?

I really mean this. Foetid, ancient, unmaintained sites are beating
current and relevant sites on a regular basis purely because of a DMOZ
entry. And it's hypocritical of Google to maintain that they use a
wholly mechanised algorithm set when they actually suck up to DMOZ -
history eight years ago.

I will go for the Pray Option and the Volunteer as I wanted to do that
anyway and be a good editor
