Default Directorys. - 10-02-2006 , 07:58 PM

Still worth it? Worth a £10 Tenner to get submitted by hand (indian
worker I think) to 150 SEO Directories from the silencer list etc.
Started my self once but was boring lol did about 40 I think.

I'm not sure it is worth spending too much time on them.

It might be worth a tenner if they get you into Zeal and DMOZ, I suspect
they just promise to submit though. Oh damn, Zeal has been shut down!
Glad I didn't spend too much time on them as their editors had their own
agenda.
in DMOZ all ready it's just the free ones in the silencer list etc I
should think

Hence getting a submitter. If it works, fine, if not, no biggie.

It is a boring task, but better to do it yourself:

1. You know your site; many quality directories have srict guidelines on how
the site is titled, described and submitted; chances are the cheapie method
will get you a rejection from the sites that count, and that often means a
permanent blacklisting

2. Cheepie submission services mostly include cr*p directories, which will
do you zero good.

3. I recently checked a random 40 of the VS 'free' list - 7 were dead, 12
required a reciprocal link (NO quality directory would EVER do that), 8 were
no longer 'free'. Fewer than 10 of the 40 were in any way "Quality"

4. Once you get beyod about 20 listings, you'll be unlikely to get much (if
any) benefit - so it's worth starting with the best FREE directories.

Good Luck - but whatever you decide, just don't give reciprocal links to
directories; it can be fatal.

Sorry, one other point ...

There are some submission services that are worth the money; they will
either tell you which directories they submit to, or tell you their
selection criteria or - even better - let you choose.

You may need to provide a 'disposable' email address for listing
confirmations (don't give a permanent one, as some do sell addies).

You should expect to pay about $50.00 for 20-30 submissions, and (depending
on the quality of your site!) hope to get accepted by about 20.

Cheers,
