does anybody know a way to identify the google datacenter that an
individual computer is calling on? if not an individual connection...
how about datacenters by city, state or region...

It does much more than its name suggests. You can quickly perform whois and
reverse DNS lookups, for example.

I think it's safe to assume it always changes for load sharing. If you
want to check which one you are connected at the moment, use FireFox and
install one of those IP checking extensions. Then simply look at the
little status bar and see the IP. I never actually paid attention, but I
think if you refresh it enough times, you'll see the IP change.
