Hi,

If i was to get a w_w.name.cc would it be as effective as w_w.name.com in
Google searches.

It shouldn't make any difference. It's things like quality of content,
nature of inbound links etc that are what counts.

I would think that it would help your ranking in geographical specific
searches in Australia.

No difference in searches - but many browsers favour .com, as does the human
memory.

Buy the .com too, and 301 to the .cc.

If the .com is gone, you'll be gifting visitors to the .com forever - and
they'll have all the brand value.
