Cost of Google Premium Sponsorships?

Does anyone know the minimum cost of Premium Sponsorships
on Google and the minimum amount of time you can use it.

One of my competitors is using it and I can't believe they would

If you mean the sponsorship that appears highlighted below the search box on

the results page, I HEARD (underlined, bold, italics) that it was going to
be discontinued. But, I heard it in another newsgroup, and can't find the
original group/post.

One neat thing to keep in mind is that if no one is paying for placement
(when I inquired last year, I was told it was 5,000), it is POSSIBLE that
your listing will appear there automatically if you are participating in
adwords and are doing well. I got this for two of our terms terms (and now
"associated terms, given the new associate terms listings that Google
started doing), and I haven't paid for premium placement, and when I
contacted Google they said they will upgrade people in some cases if no two
advertisers are paying for premium placement and if the Max PPC x CTR is
good enough.

You're correct James - google are not taking any more Premium Placements -
they call them CPM modules.

The last ones are due to expire in September.

And yes having a google adword in 1st position can get you to the 1st or
2nd top positions.

We have a client www.cvd-insurance.co.uk that is on the top in google.

I thought that as well, till we enrolled in Google adwords. But I found no
such thing in effect. Even with our minimum bids, we were able to get the
top spot in the bar over search results.
