Default Company monopolising Adwords positions - 05-06-2006 , 12:09 PM

Hi

A company is using different domain names to monopolise the Adwords
positions for given words. They've got the name of their company ending
with .com the name of their company ending with .ch (Switzerland domain
name) and an alias that's the name of the service they are offering. As
they are taking up 3 slots instead of 1 they are preventing other
companies from having a chance to appear.

Is this permitted? If not how can I contact Google for them to take
action.

I find this behaviour pathetic.

Thanks

I would say it is standard procedure. Have you ever heard about bmw.ki?

In Adwords? What can you stop from overbidding them?

Best,

Hi
Techinally, they could be seen as different sites, so I guess they
are within the rules.
But, are they duplicate sites ? Is so, report them for that instead.

I guess only google knows the answers.

Google would be put in a tough position nonetheless:

* google.com

* google.co.uk

* google.ca

* google

* and the list goes on and on...

Best wishes,

To answer my own question ;-)

I've checked the Adwords policy and from what I understand, one company
can only have one Adwords account, meaning they are cheating.

I've contacted Google and I'll see what happens.

To answer Borek: It just doesn't make sense for a company to be able to
use several Adwords slots, that means a rich company like Microsoft
could for example buy all the slots for the word "Software". I don't
have the funds to overbid them.

To answer Paul: They aren't duplicate sites they use a redirect.

Then, to me, that would cheating, and if I were running adwords, then
they would be banned. I guess google would as well.

Check out Google for 'linux'. Look who's at the very top...

Surely that's the idea anyway? Microsoft could just buy the top spot
and you couldn't outbid them. Like with advertising in any format.
More money gets the most prominent advert.

So long as it gets paid by someone then it's unlikely to care. If
everyone walked away from using Adwords, then it would start to care
bigtime.
