Default CMS for SEO? - 11-16-2005 , 10:10 AM

What would be good CMS for SEO?

We use Dreamweaver / Contribute at the moment, because that way we can
make the pages exactly as we like them to be.

But CMS would also be needed.

Especially I would like to have links, and link-texts to be freely
modifiable. I don't want address to be index.php?id=23234234344 but
/keyword/keyword.html type.

For a general CMS with 'clean' URL's and good interlinks for SEO purposes I
would recommend:

* Drupal

http://drupal.org/

* Plone

http://plone.org/

* Mambo

http://www.mamboserver.com/

(in that particular order)

Hope it helps,

Roy

I have used Mambo, but I think it only supports URL:s of form
/content/section/1/2/

This seems to be case with most "seo-friendly" URL:s. they have got rid
of ?=2423434 thing, but still you are not free to modify the URL or add
your keywords.

Have you tried mod-rewrites? Some other packages have that built-in. They
handle the syntax and produce the code for you to insert into .htaccess.
URL's are defined based on post slugs, which are initially derived from the
title of your page.

have a look at www.lemonpod.com that is a CMS based system that produces
flat HTML on the fly, with almost as much control as you need from an SEO
point of view.

Seems pretty good, bu I couldnt find any information of its price or how
to get it.

After loong looking there was: "At present, SEOBuilder is available only
to UK companies interested in taking part in our public roll-out."

So it seems its not complete product? (and I'm not in UK)

It depends what you considered SEO'd.

This is an example apparently http://www.skyreachaccess.com/ and it's
not optimised at all.

The ONLY optimisation I see and it's not that important, is the
filenames. That's about it!!

Does make me laugh when I see these 'tools', it's not that hard to
incorporate SEO factors into a design so I don't see why they always
are so badly done!!
