Checking Back links at Google

Hey All,

I noticed that backlink checking is dependent upon how you type in your
query.

link:www.yoursitename.com will reveal fewer links than;
link www.yoursitename.com (adding a space between the semi colon and the
first "w").

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Only the first is showing links - the second (and other variations) are
showing link text etc.

The first shows backlinks.

link www.yoursitename.com (adding a space between the semi colon and the

The second shows a standard search for the words LINK WWW YOURSITENAME
COM

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

So the second will show pages that don't even link to yoursitename.com

Maybe put even more spaces after "link:" :-)
