Default Changing the directory names ? - 02-06-2004 , 01:51 PM

Hi group - I have a client who sells gift baskets online. I currently have
about 80 products within this directory structure:
/baskets/html/gift-basket-name.html
I'd like to change the directory structure to:
/ottawa-gift-baskets/html/gift-basket-name.html

Apart from the major administrative task ahead of me, what is the best way
to "inform google" of this change ? I obviously don't want to lose any of my
page from the google listings.

Thanks, david

Set up a permanent redirect (301) using .htaccess so that a request for the
"old" file is directed to the new one.
Google will make note of this permanent move and won't penalize you for it.

cheers ~
