Default Can new inbound links increase PR of a redirected page? - 12-23-2006 , 08:19 PM

I'm using .htaccess to serve a 301 Redirect to a new URL. I have 2
questions:

1.) Will *new* inbound links to my original URL increase the PageRank
of either the original URL or the newly-redirected-to URL?

2.) Having told Google that the file has permanently moved (with a
301), is that URL permanently excluded from being indexed ever again?
(I may want to put something else there later).

Many thanks if you can help!
P

They will indeed. I have personal experience with this.

No, it's not permanently excluded. You can always remove the 301 and develop
the site however you wish; Google will follow links to it & index it.

Why would you care about PR? I would have to say that the answer to
your question would be difficult to explain without more info about
how you have things configured, and trust me you have better things to
worry about than that. So do I!

We talking about a domain name here or just a single file?
