I would use another domain name. Otherwise it might be that one day your
site is POOOOF ... gone.

Why would you have a Google fansite, when you have no idea about what Google
is and how it works?

Genuine question!

I doubt it, since googlefansite is to me clearly a fansite. But... if in
doubt *check with Google* and ask their permission.

If I may guess an answer: he wants to admin a forum for Google fans. It's
a great way to learn a lot about a specific topic. (I am an admin of a
board somewhat related with a band, but I don't know everything about that
band, but I do know much more about them compared to when I started).

Google is a trademark, if a company holds a trademark and doesn't act
upon abuse, it could well loose its rights.

I would not build and optimise a site that could be taken out of
business any given time, would you?

My question is: is googlefansite abuse of a trademark? I have no idea.

Yup, that's why I recommended to ask Google.

I am still not convinced :-D (Which doesn't mean I am right).

BTW: I haven't forgotten about the PDA test, I've just been tooooo busy
with 10001 things (you know, when you have 5 things planned for a day, at
the end of the day you have somehow ended up with 3 more, and 3 you
couldn't finish).

The use of google in the domain name may be OK - unless / until the site is
used to attack Google - there's plenty of similar examples using a variety
of TMs. They'd be wise to seek permission and learn about any conditions
NOW, before they cross a line.

But they sure as hell will be in trouble for using Google's logo without
permission, no disclaimer and no right.
