That Mark still didn't paint my kitchen, though, so he can go. |

Also I thought I would blog more without Usenet. |

Sadly not, so yesterday I paid for a year of Usenet :-D. |

Also, I could score all people I know very high, and "kill" the rest :-D. Bet my f/k folder is bigger than yours <G No doubt about that. Most of the time my kill list has 0 entries. Only in the past 2 years or so I have been adding people to it. When I started xnews a majority of posts in this group all came from gg accounts and consisted of spam. Now I have Usenet back, I don't want to waste time on Google's crappy Usenet gateway. |

Bloody GG posters are the bane of Usenet. And I will never use their gateway. |

Personally I think I am a born blogger for lack of a better expression). Mind: not a born writer, but as a kid my parents never had to ask how my day at school was, I just told them. When I bought my first digital camera, back in '98 I wanted to make series of photos and write a story to go with those on a web site. What now probably would be called a blog with photowalks. It stayed mostly a plan - I did upload some photos of a vacation in Sri Lanka, but never wrote about every day in full - until the end of 2000. Back then I moved to NZ, and wanted to keep my family up to date. So I started an online diary (Dutch), with photos It covered only a few days or so, but it was another attempt at blogging. As some know, a lot went wrong in NZ, and I got back to the Netherlands in 2003. In July I did another attempt at blogging: http://johnbokma.com/weblog.html |

Nowadays there are two things wrong with blogs: people who think that everybody needs one, and people who hate on them. The latter group often claims that nobody is interested in the opinion of a bunch of losers, and often express that sentiment in online forums, and comment systems of big social sites like digg. |
|
Anyway, to me there is nothing wrong with being a blogger. Not long ago you could replace blog with website in the former paragraph. And a bit further in the past: computer. |
and DOES have a topic.|

I wish they were not invented. I personally don't like them because most are scraped content from other sites, hotlinking etc. |

And others are boring to read. Even Matt Cutts blog is getting boring. |

And others are boring to read. Even Matt Cutts blog is getting boring. Ha ha ha, I consider my own blog boring to read as well. Has a bit to do with English not being my native language. And a combination of me being too formal on my blog, and not taking enough time to be funny. |

It also could be that you just don't like to read blogs. |

I only read blogs when I need the information. |

I know several very nice blogs, but I rarely read them, I get bored easily, even if the content is funny. Maybe also because to me computer is mosly work and I feel guilty when I do other stuff (on the other hand... *posts soms more on Usenet*) |
|
Talking about scraping: I know someone who does that and after a few months makes with a handful of copy-paste blogs more money a month (close to twice as much) than I do with genuine content. As long as stealing is rewarded in such a way, ad revenue will drop, and copy-paste blogging will grow. |

Plus, many look the same, and that alone gets boring. |

It also could be that you just don't like to read blogs. If the subject interested me, and if it was the one subject. But a lot of blogs are nothing but scraped content. |

Maybe because it makes more money? I have no idea. However, I have discovered dat my AdSense income dropped with almost 50% over the past months due to several factors, including (and probably the most signficant factor) that Google seems to pay less. |
