Default BL/PR upgrade? - 07-14-2005 , 06:19 PM

64.233.187.104 reports for me new IBL and new PageRank. Below my
expectations I must say.

Best,

Hmmm, my dmoz link is not counted, even if it is at least month old...

Yes, tere has indeed been a PageRank & backlink update. I just noticed that
my new website finally has a PR of 4. Yay!

And, last week Google was only showing 4 backlinks; now there are 29.

cheers ~
Denise

A single DMOZ link may not weight too much because there are 19 other
links there on the page, so PR gets distributed between all 20. Besides,
depending on your category, the DMOZ page may only have PR of 2, which is
not too good a page to be linked from.

In my case this last update I got about 3 times the amount of back links,
and no PR change :-( I guess, PR5 category is VERY difficult to leave.
Pretty much all my sites stop there and stay at PR5 for years.

Sincerely,
Dmitri

Use SearchStatus ( http://quirk.co.za/searchstatus/ ) to see if DMOZ listing
is visible at API-level.

There are definitely PR changes at the moment (they have just reached my
sites too). However, the ranks are very odd: sometimes low, sometimes 0,
sometimes unreported (grey). Wait until it stabilises before reaching any
conclusions.

Do you know what it really does? I am using Opera, and the idea of
installing Firefox just for one tool doesn't sound good.

link:www.chembuddy.com doesn't show dmoz link, but it doesn't mean
anything, as links presented are some subset of these known to G. So I
have tried to be more specific and checked just dmoz site:

link:www.chembuddy.com site:dmoz.org doesn't show anything, so perhaps
dmoz was not indexed?

chembuddy site:dmoz.org shows that dmoz _is_ indexed.

Have a look at:

http://www.schestowitz.com/temp/chembuddy.jpg

Judging by the bottom-left corner, which from experience I can tell you is
reliable, you are listed in the Google directory and DMOZ. That's what the
red dots indicate.

Thanks.

I still don't like my PR4, as I hoped for PR5 - one of my competitors is
listed just in dmoz in the same category I am listed, and he has PR5. From
what I can tell he has no other valuable links. One of the first things I
did as part of my SEO was to put my links in every place I could localize
his url. I can't tell I am duplicating all his links, but almost. I have
also many links from other places, mostly rubbish in terms of PR
transferred, but not only.

Has anyone seen any indications that PR can be sandboxed?

No, you are misled. I am downed to PR4 in my front page at this very moment
(used to be 5 with prospects of 6 according to a prediction tool) and
_deeper_ levels still have PR5. Be patient as the update is in progress.
There are many oddities I can spot.

So it seems they are tweaking with their algorithms... Did I wrote
something about getting a break till the end of Summer? Problem is, I
can't afford one right now
