Default backward links - 05-09-2004 , 01:17 PM

Hi.

Our site has been optimised for google and although at one time it reaped
great results, we now find we get almost no traffic from google at all.

Also. our backlinks have gone from over 100 to 5 recently.
Could it be, we have been banned for some reason? sandboxed maybe?

Regards

Mike

Hi Mike,
If you were banned you wouldn't have a PR, or any backlinks. Google never
shows all the links to your site. You need to search differently than
hitting that backlink button on the toolbar.

Guru is a term that is becoming a dime-a-dozen in my opinion.

However, Google displays links to your site that are PR4 or above - so
won't show _all_ the backlinks to your site.

Also - as a sidenote - All The Web shows a dismal listing of backlinks
to one's sites for the past month or two; as your listing above
shares.

What does the PR on the Google toolbar show for your site? If it is
gray [versus white] at PR0 then you might say "ut oh".

Um, actually it shows SOME of the PR4 or above links. Not all of them
by any means.

This might be because the once mighty Alltheweb is now a Yahoo poodle.

Indeed you might and should.

Hi,

I've had a quick look and see no evidence of a ban.

You have PR4, there are 5 backlinks and an allinurl: shows your pages
with a cache.

If I had to make an educated guess you have lost some of your best PR
links to the site. This is consistent with what you are seeing. Did
you used to have a higher PR?

I have some clients in the holiday industry and you don't stand a
chance with a PR4 home page as it's highly competitive! My experience
a PR6 is a must.

You have no clue what you are talking about.
What counts more- to have a higher PR or to have a higher ranking in
Search Engines?
You can have a PR of 4 and come up right on top for the search terms you
are looking for and have a PR of 7 and are far behind ranked on position
100 searching with the same keywords.

Don't give advise if you don't have a clue.

Mwahahahahahahahah!

What David, who does have a clue, was saying to you is: IN ORDER TO
GET A DECENT SERP (SEARCH ENGINE RANKING POSITION) IN A VERY COMPETITIVE
FIELD, YOU WILL *NEED* A PR OF 6 OR BETTER.

Will

P.S. David -- you are a psychopath magnet. What do you do to attract
these people?

Will, unfortunately you don't have a clue either!
PR has nothing to do with SERP.
Not anymore....

PR and SERP are two different things.
