awstats vs google analytics

Hello all,

Awstats reports each day for one of my sites have 2000 visitors.
Google Analytics reports each day not more than 600 visitors.

Can anyone help me out? Why such a big dif? And who is right?

AWStats is counting server hits. Analytics is counting with JavaScript.
You might be getting hit by bots. Bots don't trigger Analytics, but if
they are coming from different IPs and impersonating browser user agents,
they might be counted as regular visits by AWStats.

You might be able to find more information in the raw logs. First, extract
all the URLs for any 404 errors and see if anything looks unusual.
