I read and observe, as always. It seems to make sense on the face of
it but I wouldn't say it was complete. This is at first glance though.
Many more factors are involved I think.

Is the subscription with Planet Ocean worth it? $97 is a lot to spend if
you can get all the information from here!

I've not paid a penny on SEO information, so you can do it for free.

Though the best stuff I know is from tests I run rather than from
others. Those who do the cutting edge research tend not to share it
freely with others, I don't give my best information away.

The basic stuff is very easy to find for free though. I have found
when I read an article specifically made for a web page or newsletter
it concentrates more on a general theme (and sounding good) than
giving specific advice and examples. I don't see how these articles
are that helpful other than hopefully pointing a reader in the right
direction for deeper research (assuming the article was accurate).

I'm not able to write that way, when I write a page I try to detail
exactly why it is and what you can do about it. This old page of mine
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ooar123...imization.html
is a good example of what I mean.

If I was advising where to get your info it would have to be this NG
and related forums since this is where those doing the tests hang out
and if someone posts a bunch of garbage others will correct them.

Here's a very simple tip that I bet you won't find in a book/article
etc...

If you have a home text links with anchor text "Home" and can't change
it as it doesn't work with your site design etc... take a screen shot
of your web page in the most popular browser. Use an image editing
program (I use Paintshop Pro) to cut it down to just be the home bit
of the image.

Now change the Home text link to a Home image link with alt text
including your main keywords.

It's not clear if image link alt text is equal to text link anchor
text (I think they are, but it's difficult to prove). So to make sure
you get the biggest boost try to include a text link (with good anchor
text) to the same page on every page you use the image link.

Issues with the above include resizing text. To prevent your pages
messing up when you resize fonts you either have to set the rest of
the menu text links to a specific px size so they won't resize or
better yet make image links for all of them i.e.
http://www.hydrilla-weed-killer.com/ (doing very well for a PR3 home
page, lots of top 10 SERPs, so those images links must be working).

Thanks for the tips, I never thought of that before. I have a home image
link and a home text link but will keep that work around in mind for other
sites. Thanks.

I will give planet ocean a miss for now and keep reading this group.

I don't publish any of my research, only snippits here and there.

Give me an example or two and I'll tell you if I've covered it, might
even tell you my results if I'm in a good mood (not done my good deed
for September yet :-)).
