As I read this newsgroup and exchange links, I keep running into
various auomated programs on other sites that handle reciprocal link
management.

Does anyone ahve a good one they would recommend?

Are there any shareware or freeware one's avaiable that are any good?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Al

Hi, the best one to recommend that I know of, and it is totally free,
is to write a personal email to the webmaster / site owner.

I know many webmasters that ignore automated emails, so your time
would be wasted in using them.

Sorry for not being clearer. I am not looking for something to
automate my submitting links to other websites. Rather I am looking
for something to automate people submiting to me.

For example, I have submitted my site's info, url, description, etc,
into what must be a link management program. It must allow for
categorization, and must allow for some sort of approval process
before a submitted link is shown.

I would also like to have a link checker, to keep up with other sites
to see if my site's url is still on their pages.

I know some are out there. I jsut wanted to get other people's input
on this. Since links are so critical to seo, I figure there must be
some seo gurus who have experience in these matters.

Thanks for the post.

Al

ah, I see. My mistake.

I do all mine by hand.

Again, I do this by hand (and excel)

Have you looked at http://www.seoelite.com/index2.htm I think they do
something like that. I may be wrong.

could you not just take the requests in a form and store them in a
database, then output them on screen in the respective categories
through some dynamic page?

Gazing into my crystal ball I observed Stimp <ren (AT) spumco (DOT) com> writing in

That's what I do. I have the status as "P", and a report that I use to
change the status to "A" or "D". When the status changes, the requestor
gets an email saying whether or not they were accepted. The actual page
only lists those records which have a status of "A". I have one written
in ASP and another written in PHP.

What is being proposed amounts to "participation in a link scheme" and is to
be avoided for SEO purposes. Never link TO a site that is involved in this
sort of thing as it could get your own site downgraded. Link schemes are
often a deliberate attempt to mislead search engines as to the merit of the
sites involved. If you already have such a link farm on your site I
suggest you delete it completely. I agree that links are critical to SEO -
like in critically beneficial or critically disastrous. Try to be in the
first category rather than the second.

Best regards, Eric.

Eric,

I can understand your feelings, but I think you missed the part in one
of my follow up posts, shown above, that reads:

"It must allow for categorization, and must allow for some sort of
approval process before a submitted link is shown."

What I have seen on other sites is a page that says something like
this:

"We are willing to exchange links with other sites that are related to
XYZ industry."

And the "XYZ Industry" would actually be the ype of business I am in,
or at least my site is in.

So I intend to do exactly what you are saying.

Thanks for your post.
Best regards,

Al
