annoying web sites

There are certain web sites that have arranged themselves to come at or
near the top of a Google search when you are hoping to find a site
selling just about anything in just about any locality. In Britain,
anyway; I guess other countries suffer from these things too. Whether
I want a scythe or a scanner or a map, these same few sites come to the
top of the list, and they don't actually sell scythes scanners or maps,
they just allow me to search (less well than with Google) for sites that
actually do sell them.

These sites do not provide a service to users, they do the opposite, by
getting in the way of my attempt to find a supplier. I guess that
Google would love to blacklist them, but feels it can't.

However, here is what Google could do. It could let me configure my
Googlebar, and tell it "I never again want to be informed about any page
within xxx domain". And then, if it wanted, Google could check up on
how many of its users had censored certain domains, and make appropriate
use of the information.

You can already do that in the advanced search section of google
