altavista paid inclusion

if i submit just my home page at www.altavista.com with basic (free)
submission, does it not crawl any other pages??? and takes ages to refresh.
competitors sites are refreshed every 48 hours, does this mean they *had* to
have paid for express inclusssion???

google has index 13, 000 of my pages and i just submitted the home page. so
if i wanted this on altavista, i would have to pay for inclusion and enter
each page by hand???!
