That only works if you already get traffic from all the different

Of course, but Google only looks for exact the same order if one uses ""
and I doubt that many people look for "web design leeds".
its our no1 search term!

we're caught under web design leeds, website design leeds web site design
leeds (manchester sheffield wakefield etc)

How many visitors a day?

Based on Wordtracker it's got to be below 10.

Based on Wordtracker it's got to be below 10.
Let me explain again: It doesn't matter. If you run a local business and
that's what you want, what's the point in getting 5000 visitors a day,
if only 10 are really potential customers? The other 4990 use your
traffic, and if they misread, they might email you for price quotes, and
you have to say: sorry, we don't deliver in Whatchamacallit?

With a web design company you can work remote, but a butcher, a disco,
etc is a bit harder.

What does a site owner prefer? 5000 visitors/day or 10 vistors/day if in
both cases only 5 are potential customers?

You probably say: John, your stats are wrong, because of those 5000
visitors their might be people who have an uncle in Leeds, word of mouth
etc.

But... those 5000 give also people who inquire and didn't read the site
good.

Maybe you look at it too much from an AdSense site: every visitor is a
click. But for a local business, the more people you get, the more email
you get. And if the email doesn't result in business, it's a waste of
time.

Talk about trying to cause an argument for the sake of it!!

Did I say anything to suggest lots of untargeted traffic is better
than smaller amounts of targeted traffic? (have I ever said this?)

The answer is no I did not, I was asking a question about how many
visitors that SERP brings in a day as it is interesting that the OPs
"no1 search term" is "web design leeds" and Wordtracker suggests
single to low double digit numbers.

As a reminder

Wordtracker results for web design leeds

web site design leeds 9 7
leeds web design 7 6
leeds professional web design 4 3
web design companies in leeds 4 3

It isn't even matched as a phrase used, so on that basis could be less
than 3 visitors a day.

BTW I'm not going to waste my time on another long pointless argument
with you since you entrench your views quickly and seem incapable of
admitting when you are wrong or have misunderstood another posters
point of view!

I do find it very funny how you guess my views on this though, reality
is you couldn't be further from how I view traffic. What is even
funnier though is your site is setup to obtain a lot of visitors that
will not purchase your service from you. So you describe your own
setup, not how I view these things :-))

Yup, since it's a *personal* site, I write about stuff I like on my site.

Ok, if you agree with my view (target on your customers, not on traffic)
then there is no argument (and I mixed you up with Stacey, which is now and
then easy [1] :-D )

[1] in my case.

Dave forgot to mention maybe if you killfile John like I did you wouldn't
have to see his insults. There is less noise if you know what I mean.:-)
Plus, it doesn't matter if he misunderstands what a poster says he is right.
