Those search pages are blindingly ugly
and extreeeemmmmeeeely hard to look at.


Part of Google's success, I am sure, has to
do with their clean interface.

whilst true, all the web is a publicly available showcase for the FAST
search technology, which is sold to portals rather than operated directly
as a public search engine...if it was as busy as Google it would be
exceedingly expensive to keep it fast enough to impress potential
customers
