so,would I be right in thinking that because it sticks all catalogue
pages in a sub directory /actalog/ this will have a bearing on the page
results or is it just a page rank thing?

Cheers

Is it spiderable ok? How much can you tinker with the format of the
pages?

no idea Bill.
Just thought there may be some folks out there that have or haven't had
success with it.

There's bound to be a forum. It should have an seo contingent in it.
They'll know.

I've looked at optimising Actinic websites for potential clients (not
optimised one yet, just the quote process) and from what I can tell
it's mostly a case of optimising the template files you use for the
shop and using the correct options within the software.

So you'll need someone with at least basic HTML skills to edit each
template file so you have the basic SEO requirements for each page
(when I looked the standard templates they didn't create optimised
pages).

Overall it's not the best choice for an optimised shop. I've looked
for shop software in the past and not found anything great, Oscommerce
has the potential for creating optimised shops, but will require quite
a bit of editing, adding mods/plugins to get exactly what you need.
