a9 traffic rank?

anyone know how this is calculated? or rivals are listed below us but have a
higher traffic rank (almost 5x what ours is?)

Yes it uses the Alexa toolbar. A9.com is based on Google. Nuff said.

Maybe they get more visitors?

The Alexa traffic rank is very inaccurate. Install the toolbar on your
web browser and sur your site and you can get into the to 100,000.

This is all old stuff mind, you should search Google groups to find this
stuff out.

Yes that's right. The Alexa toolbar sends back the URL of each page you
access. For heavily accessed sites the ranking is supposed to be quite
accurate but for less traffic sites (because not many people install the
toolbar) the ranking is easily peturbed. If you install the toolbar and
surf your site a bit every day you can normally get it into the top
100,000 (you may already be there of course).

There are some more detailed explainations on exactly how the ranking is
established on the web.
